Imo mochi (taro cake)

"Imo mochi" (cake of taro and rice) has long been eaten in areas where taro grows. Taro and rice are boiled, pounded and shaped into balls to be baked on all sides. It can be eaten after adding ginger soy sauce and baking again or without baking. This relish used to be used to add stickiness to rice with taro when sticky rice was still an expensive commodity.
