Tanekura beni cabu (red turnip)

Its main cultivation area is today’s Hida City, and the name was given after the original area of cultivation. Home seed-raising has been practiced over a long time whereby only quality produce has been selected to develop “Tanekura beni kabu” or the red turnip of the Tanekura area as it is called today. In the local community, “nagazuke” or long period pickling is practiced in which the turnips are pickled without removing leaves. It is characterized by its vivid reddish purple color, conic shape and long rachis.
